Summary
Updates progress made, since the 1st progress report of 28 Aug. 2003 (A/58/333), in the follow-up to the special session of the General Assembly on children, held 8-10 May 2002. Highlights action taken in the 4 major goal areas, which are i) promoting healthy lives; ii) providing quality education; iii) protecting children against abuse, exploitation and violence; and iv) combating HIV/AIDS. And suggests that most of the goals of "A world fit for children" will only be achieved if there is a major intensification of action for disadvantaged children and families across the world. DAA
