Duelfer's (United States of America, 1952 - ) career in national security agencies began working at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he was responsible for Department of Defense strategic nuclear forces and space programs. He joined the United Nations, after working as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for arms control and multilateral defence matters in 1993, as Deputy Executive Chairman for the United Nations Special Commission on Iraq (UNSCOM).
