Provides an update of the situation since the last report of 10 Oct. 2001 (S/2001/956). Summarizes key developments since the last report, especially developments since the death of the UNITA leader, Jonas Savimbi, and proposes adjustments to the mandate and structure of the UN presence in Angola, following consultations with the Government and other stakeholders in the Angolan peace process, in the context of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Government and UNITA on 4 Apr. 2002, the 15-point Agenda for Peace issued by the Government on 13 Mar. 2002 and the outstanding provisions of the Lusaka Protocol.
