Condemns South Africa for its illegal occupation of Namibia; condemns the installation of a so-called interim government in Namibia and declares that action null and void; reiterates resolution 435 (1978) embodying the UN Plan for the independence of Namibia; decides to mandate the Secretary-General to resume immediate contact with South Africa, with a view to obtaining its choice of the electoral system to be used for the election under UN supervision, so as to enable the implementation of the UN Independence Plan for Namibia; warns South Africa that failure to comply with UN resolutions would compel the Security Council to impose mandatory economic sanctions against it; urges Member States to take appropriate voluntary measures to sever all links and dealings with South Africa.
