Use for works covering the period until 21 Feb. 1958 and from 2 Sept. 1971 onwards. Egypt and Syria united to form the United Arab Republic from 22 Feb. 1958 to 27 Sept. 1961. Egypt retained the name United Arab Republic as its own official designation until 2 Sept. 1971.
