Summary
Held from 24 to 30 June 2009 to raise awareness about the centrality of the human rights dimension of the economic and financial crises and their future repercussions; ensure the sustained input from the Human Rights Council to the international debate and efforts aimed at addressing and minimizing the impacts of the crises; infuse the process of devising related strategies, policies and efforts with a human rights dimension; contribute to the work of the Open-ended Working Group of the General Assembly in its mandate to follow up on the issues contained in the outcome document of the Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on Development; and contribute to the UN Review Progress on the Millennium Development Goals.
