Summary
Commends the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, including its Terrorism Prevention Branch, for providing, in close consultation with the Counter-Terrorism Committee and its Executive Directorate, technical assistance to States, upon request, to facilitate the implementation of the international conventions and protocols related to terrorism and relevant UN resolutions, and requests the Office, within its mandate, to continue to enhance its efforts in that regard, in close coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Committee and the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force; requests the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, within its mandate, to intensify its efforts to continue to systematically develop specialized legal knowledge in the area of counter-terrorism and pertinent thematic areas of relevance to the mandates of the Office and to provide, upon request, technical assistance for building the capacity of Member States to ratify and implement the international conventions and protocols related to terrorism; also requests the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to work with international organizations and relevant entities of the UN system, as well as with regional and subregional organizations and arrangements, in the delivery of technical assistance, whenever appropriate; requests the Secretary-General to provide the UN Office on Drugs and Crime with sufficient resources to carry out activities within its mandate, including in the area of counter-terrorism, and, in the context of the strategy for the period 2008-2011 for the Office, to assist Member States, upon request, in the implementation of the relevant elements of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
