Calls upon States to promote and protect effectively the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all migrants, regardless of their migration status, especially those of women and children, and to address international migration through international, regional or bilateral cooperation and dialogue and through a comprehensive and balanced approach, recognizing the roles and responsibilities of countries of origin, transit and destination in promoting and protecting the human rights of all migrants, and avoiding approaches that might aggravate their vulnerability; reaffirms the rights set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the obligations of States under the International Covenants on Human Rights; also reaffirms the duty of States to effectively promote and protect the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all migrants; emphasizes the importance of protecting persons in vulnerable situations; stresses the importance of international, regional and bilateral cooperation in the protection of the human rights of migrants; requests the Secretary-General to provide the resources necessary, from within existing resources of the UN, for the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Their Families to meet for a maximum of 3 weeks in 1 session or in 2 separate sessions in 2010, as required by the number of reports submitted to the Committee, and requests the Committee to further consider ways of improving the effectiveness of its working sessions and to report to the General Assembly on the use of its meeting time.
