Welcomes the adoption by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime of a regional approach for programming based on consultation and partnership at the national and regional levels and focused on ensuring that the Office responds in a sustainable and coherent manner to the priorities of Member States; requests the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to make every effort to ensure an effective process of consultation for the regional programmes and to ensure that such programmes are distributed as widely as possible; also requests the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to enhance its efforts to provide technical assistance and advisory services for the implementation of regional programmes; encourages all Member States to draw, where appropriate, upon the regional programmes of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the technical assistance activities outlined therein in the development of national legislation, procedures, policies and strategies to strengthen criminal justice systems and related institutions; encourages bilateral and multilateral aid agencies and financial institutions to support the implementation of the regional programmes of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime; requests the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to give high priority to the implementation of the regional programmes of the Office and to report on progress made on such implementation to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at their sessions to be held in the first half of 2011.
