Notes the progress made thus far in the preparations for the 12th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice; decides to hold the 12th Congress in Salvador, Brazil, from 12 to 19 Apr. 2010, with pre Congress consultations to be held on 11 Apr. 2010; also decides that the high level segment of the 12th Congress shall be held during the last two days of the Congress; further decides that the main theme of the 12th Congress shall be "Comprehensive strategies for global challenges: crime prevention and criminal justice systems and their development in a changing world"; requests the Secretary General to appoint a Secretary General and an Executive Secretary of the 12th Congress; requests the Commission to accord sufficient time at its 18th session to reviewing the progress made in the preparations for the 12th Congress.
