Implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the 24th special session of the General Assembly : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Welcomes the reaffirmation by Governments of their will and commitment to continue implementing the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action; welcomes the proclamation of the 2nd UN Decade for the Eradication of Poverty (2008-2017); requests the UN funds, programmes and agencies and invites financial institutions to support efforts to mainstream the goals of full and productive employment and decent work for all in their policies, programmes and activities; urges Governments to develop systems of social protection; reaffirms the commitments made in respect of "Meeting the special needs of Africa" at the 2005 World Summit; underlines the responsibility of the private sector; stresses the importance of promoting corporate social responsibility and accountability.
