Summary
Reiterates the importance of the UN activities at the regional level to advancement in disarmament and to increase the stability and security of its Member States, which could be promoted in a substantive manner by the maintenance and revitalization of the three regional centres for peace and disarmament; appeals to Member States in each region and those that are able to do so, as well as to international governmental and non-governmental organizations and foundations, to make voluntary contributions to the regional centres in their respective regions to strengthen their activities and initiatives; emphasizes the importance of the activities of the regional disarmament branch of the Office for Disarmament Affairs of the Secretariat; requests the Secretary-General to provide all necessary support, within existing resources, to the regional centres in carrying out their programmes of activities.
