Summary
Reiterates its strong support for the role of the UN Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean in the promotion of UN activities at the regional level to strengthen peace, stability, security and development among its member States; requests the Secretary-General to provide from the regular budget, starting in the biennium 2010-2011, the necessary support to ensure the sustainability of the core activities and operations of the Regional Centre; appeals to Member States, in particular those within the Latin American and Caribbean region, and to international governmental and non-governmental organizations and foundations to make and to increase voluntary contributions to strengthen the Regional Centre, its programme of activities and the implementation thereof; encourages the Regional Centre to further develop activities in all countries of the region in the important area of disarmament and development.
