Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol thereto : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Welcomes the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Optional Protocol thereto on 13 Dec. 2006, and expresses the hope that they will enter into force at an early date; also requests the Secretary-General to continue the progressive implementation of standards and guidelines for the accessibility of facilities and services of the UN system, taking into account relevant provisions of the Convention, in particular when undertaking renovations; requests UN agencies and organizations, and invites intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, to continue undertaking efforts to disseminate accessible information on the Convention and the Optional Protocol, to promote their understanding, to prepare for their entry into force and to assist States parties in implementing their obligations under these instruments.
