Follow-up to the 2nd World Assembly on Ageing : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Stresses the need for additional capacity-building at the national level in order to promote and facilitate implementation of the Madrid Plan of Action, and in this connection encourages Governments to support the UN Trust Fund for Ageing to enable the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat to provide expanded assistance to countries, upon their request; recommends to the Commission for Social Development to include in the deliberations of its 46th session in 2008 the outcomes of the first cycle of the review and appraisal of the Madrid Plan of Action, including identifying progress made and obstacles encountered during the first 5 years of the implementation process.
