Summary
Decides to observe the International Day of Non-Violence on 2 Oct. each year, with the International Day; invites all Member States, organizations of the UN system, regional and non-governmental organizations and individuals to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence; requests the Secretary-General to recommend ways and means by which the UN system and the UN Secretariat could assist Member States in organizing activities to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence; also requests the Secretary-General to take necessary measures for the observance by UN of the International Day of Non-Violence; requests the Secretary-General to keep the General Assembly informed at its 63rd session of the implementation of the present resolution, within the UN system, as regards the observance of the International Day of Non-Violence.
