Pattern of conferences : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Approves the draft revised calendar of conferences and meetings of the UN for 2007; authorizes the Committee to make any adjustments to the 2007 calendar that may become necessary as a result of actions and decisions taken by the General Assembly at its 61st session; requests the Secretary-General to ensure that all requests for conference services for meetings of Member states are met and to explore innovative ways to address the problem of ad hoc interpretation services; requests the Secretary-General to explore means to increase utilization of ECA's conference centre; requests bodies that normally meet at Headquarters to take into consideration the limitations of conference facilities during the renovation period; requests the Secretary-General to ensure that the Capital Master Plan will not compromise the quality of conference services; requests the Secretary-General to hold competitive examinations for the recruitment of language staff sufficiently in advance so as to fill current and future vacancies in language services in a timely manner, bearing in mind the persistent situation at the UN Office at Nairobi, and to inform the General Assembly at its 62nd session of efforts in this regard.
