Cooperation between the United Nations and the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Notes with appreciation the progress achieved in cooperation between the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries and the specialized agencies and other bodies and programmes of the UN system; welcomes the signature of the agreement between the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries on 9 Nov.; invites the UN Secretary-General to continue to undertake consultations with the Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries with a view to promoting cooperation between the secretariats of the two bodies, in particular by encouraging meetings that enable their representatives to consult one another on projects, measures and procedures that will facilitate and expand their mutual cooperation and coordination; invites the Secretary-General and the Executive Secretary to start consultations with a view to considering the establishment of a formal cooperation agreement; requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on the implementation of the present resolution to the General Assembly at its 63rd session; decides to include this item in the provisional agenda of its 63rd session.
