Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Adopts the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Optional Protocol to the Convention annexed to the present resolution, which shall be open for signature at UN Headquarters in New York as of 30 Mar. 2007; requests the Secretary-General to provide the staff and facilities necessary for the effective performance of the functions of the Conference of States Parties and the Committee under the Convention and the Optional Protocol after the entry into force of the Convention, as well as for the dissemination of information on the Convention and the Optional Protocol; also requests the Secretary-General to implement progressively standards and guidelines for the accessibility of facilities and services of the UN system, taking into account relevant provisions of the Convention, in particular when undertaking renovations; requests UN agencies and organizations, and invites intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, to undertake efforts to disseminate information on the Convention and the Optional Protocol and to promote their understanding.
