Condemns: (a) the ongoing violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, particularly in North Kivu and South Kivu; (b) the killing of UN peacekeeping troops by militia groups in Ituri Province in February 2005 and in June 2005; (c) the killing of Pascal Kabungulu Kibembi, Executive Secretary of Héritiers de la Justice on 31 July 2005 and the harassment of human rights defenders across the country; (d) the continued illegal exploitation of natural resources and killings and other serious crimes against civilians; urges all the parties, including non-signatories, to respect and further implement the Global and All-Inclusive Agreement on the Transition; calls upon the Government of National Unity and Transition to take specific measures to complete the objectives of the transitional period, in particular the holding of free and transparent elections and to comply fully with its obligations; calls upon the Governments of countries in the region, to contribute to preventing armed groups operating in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo from perpetrating killings and other serious crimes and to support the transitional process; urges the Secretary-General to continue his work aimed at eliminating sexual exploitation and abuse committed by personnel serving the UN Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; decides to continue to examine the situation of human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and requests the independent expert on the situation of human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to report to the General Assembly at its 61st session.
