Summary
Provides a brief overview of the current situation with regard to ratification of international human rights treaties and an information update supported by statistical annexes (E/CN.4/Sub.2/2005/8/Add.1); reviews the annual initiatives within the UN to encourage universal participation in international human rights treaties, discusses good practice in this regard in other international organizations and makes suggestions to revive the movement towards universal ratification; addresses methodological aspects of the question of universal implementation, including the preparation of a questionnaire.
