DAA Covers the period since the last report of 18 Feb. 2005 (S/2005/99) and reports on recent political and security developments in Timor-Leste. Describes also preparations for the implementation of the mandate of the UN Office in Timor-Leste (UNOTIL), established by Security Council resolution 1599 (2005) for a one-year period, until 20 May 2006. The report also reviews the activities of the UN Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET) and the progress made in building the capacity of Timorese State institutions, particularly in the following areas: i) programme 1 on support for the public administration and justice system of Timor-Leste and for justice in the area of serious crimes; ii) programme 2 on support to the development of law enforcement in Timor-Leste; and iii) programme 3 on support for the security and stability of Timor-Leste. Highlights key contributions made by the UN System and presents observations and recommendations for further international assistance to Timor-Leste, includes i) a table showing UNMISET civilian police and military strength as at 10 May 2005; and ii) a map showing UNMISET deployment as of May 2005.
