Summary
Transmits report on comprehensive strategy to eliminate future sexual exploitation and abuse in UN peacekeeping operations, as requested by the UN Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations in its 2005 report (A/59/19), which was prepared by Prince Zeid Ra'ad Zeid Al-Hussein, Permanent Representative of Jordan. Describes the background of the problem of sexual exploitation and abuse in peacekeeping operations in Section 1; sets out the Organizations' rules on the subject and its investigative process Section 2 and 3; reviews the civil accountability of the Organization and its managers and commanders with respect to taking effective measures to deal with sexual exploitation and abuse, as is the personal accountability of those who violate the rules of the Organization in Section 4; and discusses the criminal accountability in Section 5. Includes recommendations for action on four broad fronts; and stipulates the status and rules of conduct and discipline of the UN peacekeeping personnel in Annex. DAA
