Summary
Reaffirms the inalienable right of the people of Montserrat to self-determination and independence; reiterates that it is the responsibility of the United Kingdom to create such conditions in the Territory as will enable the people of Montserrat to exercise freely and without interference their inalienable right to self-determination and independence; calls upon the administering Power to continue to strengthen the economy of the Territory and to increase its assistance to programmes of diversification; urges the administering Power to take effective measures to safeguard and guarantee the right of the people to own and dispose of the natural resources of the Territory; reiterates its call upon the administering Power to continue the assistance necessary for the employment of the local population in the civil service, particularly at senior levels.
