Implementation of the recommendations contained in the report of the Secretary-General on the causes of conflict and the promotion of durable peace and sustainable development in Africa : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Takes note of the progress report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the recommendations contained in his report on the causes of conflict and promotion of durable peace and sustainable development in Africa; encourages the international community to continue to support the ongoing efforts of African countries to develop their capacity to undertake peace support operations; recognizes the contribution made by the ad hoc advisory groups on African countries emerging from conflict of the Economic and Social Council and the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa of the Security Council, in promoting peace and sustainable development; requests the Secretary-General to recommend suitable arrangements and mechanisms through which Member States could more effectively support Africa's efforts to address the causes of conflict in Africa, and to strengthen preventive action as well as post-conflict peacebuilding; decides to monitor the implementation of the recommendations contained in the report of the Secretary-General on the causes of conflict and the promotion of durable peace and sustainable development in Africa; requests the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at its 60th session a progress report on the implementation of the present resolution
