Résumé
Welcomes the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Family on 6 Dec. 2004 at Headquarters; commends the important contributions made by Governments at the international, national, regional and local levels to observe the 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Family; welcomes the hosting of the Regional Conference on the Family in Africa on 27 and 28 July 2004 by the Government of Benin, and also welcomes the hosting of the Doha International Conference for the Family on 29 and 30 Nov. 2004 by the State of Qatar; encourages Governments to make every possible effort to realize the objectives of the 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Family and to integrate a family perspective in the planning process; recommends that all relevant agencies of the UN system, civil society organizations, the media, religious and community-based organizations as well as the private sector contribute to developing strategies and programmes aimed at strengthening the livelihood of families; decides to celebrate the anniversary of the International Year of the Family on a 10-year basis.
