Calls upon Member States that have not yet done so to consider ratifying, accepting, approving or acceding to the Convention at the earliest opportunity, with a view to bringing the Convention into force as soon as possible; urges Member States to strengthen tobacco control measures; also calls upon the relevant UN bodies and invites other relevant international organizations to continue to provide support for strengthening national and international tobacco control programmes; requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on the work of the Ad Hoc Inter-Agency Task Force on Tobacco Control to the Economic and Social Council at its substantive session of 2006.
