Summary
Decides to extend the deployment of MONUC until the 31 Mar. 2005; authorizes the increase of MONUC's strength by 5,900 personnel, including up to 341 civilian posts; decides that MONUC will have a new mandate; decides that MONUC will also have a new mandate in support of the Government of National Unity and Transition; authorizes MONUC to use all necessary means to carry out its tasks; requests the Secretary-General to report to the Council within one month of the present resolution on reforms necessary to improve MONUC's structures; requests the Secretary-General, through his Special Representative, to coordinate all activities of the UN system in the country; requests the Secretary-General to submit a report, before 28 Feb. 2005, on the execution by MONUC of its mandate; decides to remain actively seized of the matter.
