Statement / by the President of the Security Council

Statement [made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 4966th meeting, 10 May 2004, in connection with the Council's consideration of the item entitled "Threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts"]

Condemns the terrorist bomb attack that took place on 9 May 2004 in Grozny (Russian Federation), as a result of which many people were injured and killed, including the President of the Chechen Republic Ahmad Kadyrov; condemns also the perpetrators of this heinous act; expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the people and to the Government of the Russian Federation and to victims and their families; urges all States to cooperate with Russian authorities to bring to justice the perpetrators, organizers and sponsors of this attack; reaffirms that terrorism constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security; expresses its determination to combat all forms of terrorism.
