DAA Provides practical recommendations under the 12 broad headings: i) improving the UN harmonization; ii) ratification and observance of existing conventions; iii) collaboration in the Mano River Union area; iv) strengthening the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) secretariat; v) strengthening and implementing the ECOWAS Moratorium; vi) supporting national commissions; vii) disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programmes; viii) security sector reform; ix) reducing extortion at roadblocks within and between countries; x) strengthening civil society participation and awareness-raising; xi) "naming and shaming"; and xii) small arms exporters and private security companies.
