Summary
Calls upon the Government of Guatemala to maintain its commitment to the full implementation of the peace agreements and to further reduce military spending and to allocate adequate budgets to institutions given priority under the peace accords; also calls upon the Government to implement fully the recommendations of the Commission for Historical Clarification; urges the international community to support financially the strengthening of national capacities to ensure the consolidation of the peace process in Guatemala and strengthening of the capacities of the UN agencies and programmes; requests the UN system in Guatemala to continue to monitor and report annually on the implementation of the agreement on Social and Economic Aspect and Agrarian Situation; decides to authorize a final renewal of the mandate of the UN Verification Mission in Guatemala from 1 Jan. to 31 Dec. 2004.
