Rights of the child : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Urges states to sign and ratify or accede to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Optional Protocols and to take measures for implementation of the rights recognized in the Convention; decides: (a) to request the Secretary-General to prepare updated report on progress achieved in realizing commitments set out in document "A world fit for children," (b) to request him to submit to the General Assembly at its 59th session report on the rights of the child, (c) to request Special Representative for Children in Armed Conflict to continue to submit to the General Assembly, Security Council and Commission on Human Rights reports on children affected by armed conflict, (d) to request the independent expert for the UN study on violence against children to conduct a study as soon as possible, (e) to invite the independent expert to present oral progress report on the study to the General Assembly at its 59th session, (f) to request the Secretary-General to ensure provision of staff and facilities from UN regular budget for effective performance of the Committee, (g) to continue is consideration of this question at its 59th session.
