Assistance for humanitarian relief and the economic and social rehabilitation of Somalia : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Reiterates its firm support for the national reconciliation process and urges all parties in Somalia to participate; urges all States and concerned organizations to assist the Somali people in embarking on the rehabilitation of basic social and economic services; calls upon the Secretary-General to continue to mobilize international humanitarian, rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance for Somalia; calls upon the Somali parties to respect the security and safety of UN staff; urges the international community to provide as a matter of urgency humanitarian assistance and relief to the Somali people to alleviate in particular the consequences of the prevailing drought; calls upon the international community to provide continuing and increased assistance in response to the UN 2004 Consolidated Inter-Agency Appeal for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance for Somalia; requests the Secretary-General, in view of the critical situation in Somalia, to take all necessary and practicable measures for the implementation of the present resolution and to report thereon to the General Assembly at its 59th session.
