Statement [made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 4856th meeting, 11 Nov. 2003, in connection with the Council's consideration of the item entitled "The situation in Somalia"]

Reiterates its firm support for the Somali National Reconciliation process; urges all Somali leaders to participate in the Leaders Meeting in Kenya in Nov. 2003; calls on the international community to continue its efforts to support IGAD; calls on the donor countries to contribute to the Process, the Trust Fund and the Inter-Agency Appeal for Somolia; expresses serious concern regarding the humanitarian situation in Somalia and calls on the Somalia leaders to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and to assure the safety of all international and national aid workers; reiterates that the comprehensive peace-building programme will be important to post-conflict Somali.
