ملخص
Mr. Ashraf Ghorbal (Egypt, 1925 – 2005) was a member of the Egyptian team that conducted the Arab-Israeli peace negotiations following the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Having first entered the Egyptian diplomatic service in 1945, Mr. Ghorbal became a part of the Egyptian delegation to the United Nations in 1949. In February 1973, he was appointed as media adviser to President Anwar El-Sadat and served in this position until he was reassigned as the Egyptian Ambassador to Washington, a position he held until his retirement in 1985. In this interview, conducted on 11 March 1998, Mr. Ghorbal discussed the onset of the Yom Kippur War, the repercussions of the actions taken therein and the negotiations at Camp David that lead to the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty of 1979.
