Security Council resolution 1501 (2003) [on authorization for the Interim Emergency Multinational Force to provide assistance to the UN Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo contingent deployed in Bunia and its immediate surroundings during the period of the Force's disengagement]

Approves the recommendation contained in the Secretary-General's letter of 14 Aug. 2003; authorizes the States members of the Interim Emergency Multinational Force to provide assistance to the UN Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) contingent deployed in the town and its immediate surroundings, if MONUC requests them to do so and if exceptional circumstances demand it, during the period of the Force's disengagement which should last until 15 Sept. 2003 at the latest; decides to remain actively seized of the matter.
