摘要
Hédi Annabi (Tunisia, 1944 – 2010), former head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), served as Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister in Tunisia's Foreign Service and General Manager of the National News Agency (Agence Tunis-Afrique-Presse) before joining the United Nations in 1981. He served as Principal Officer in the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Southeast Asia, later becoming the Director. Mr. Annabi moved to the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), serving as Director of the Africa Division from 1993 to 1996. In 1996, he was designated as Officer in Charge of the Office of Operations of DPKO. After being appointed Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations in 1997, he became the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Haiti in 2007. Unfortunately, Mr. Annabi, along with many other people, was killed in the collapse of the United Nations Headquarters Port-au-Prince following Haiti's earthquake in 2010. From 1982 to 1992, he worked in conjunction with the Secretary-General and his Special Representative to a settlement of the Cambodian problem. Subsequently, he was involved in the preparations for the establishment of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC). Mr. Annabi speaks of this period in this interview, conducted in 1995, while he was working with DPKO. He discusses the United Nations' role in the negotiations, the Paris Conference of 1989 and the development of UNTAC.
