Summary
Considers that, in the context of the current world economic situation, the multilateral trading system should be reinforced by achieving a balanced outcome of the Doha negotiations; recognizes that trade rules and issues in the post-Doha framework should have a clear development content; stresses the importance of facilitating the accession of all developing countries that apply for membership in the World Trade Organization; reaffirms the commitments made at the 4th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization held at Doha and at the 3rd UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, held at Brussels 14-20 May 2001; stresses the importance of clarifying and improving disciplines and procedures under the existing provisions of the World Trade Organization applying to regional trade agreements; also stresses the importance of the Doha mandate for negotiations on market access for non-agricultural products; stresses the importance of increased participation of developing countries in the work of relevant international standards-setting organizations and of increased technical assistance and capacity-building in this regard; endorses the outcomes of the mid-term review of the work of the UN Conference on Trade and Development.
