Rights of the child : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Requests the Secretary-General to ensure the provision of appropriate staff and facilities of the Committee; requests all relevant human rights mechanisms to pay attention to the special situations of violence against children; requests the Secretary-General to provide the Special Rapporteur with all necessary human and financial assistance; requests States to increase cooperation and concerted action at the national, regional and international levels to prevent and dismantle networks that traffic in children; decides: (a) to request the Secretary-General to prepare a report on progress achieved in realizing the commitments set out in the final document of the 27th special session of the General Assembly; (b) to include in the provisional agenda of its 58th session the item entitled "Follow-up to the outcome of the special session on children"; (c) to request the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at its 58th session a report on the rights of the child containing information on the status of the Convention on the Rights of the Child; (d) to request the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict to submit to the General Assembly and the Commission on Human Rights reports containing relevant information on the situation of children affected by armed conflict; (d) to continue its consideration of this question at its 58th session under the item entitled "Promotion and protection of the rights of children".
