Summary
Takes note of the report of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice on its 11th session and of its discussion on the preparations for the 11th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice; decides that the main theme of the 11th Congress shall be "Synergies and responses: strategic alliances in crime prevention and criminal justice"; suggests that the following topics be included for discussion during the plenary session of the 11th Congress: (a) Effective measures to combat transnational organized crime; (b) Corruption: threats and trends in the 21st century; (c) Economic and financial crimes: challenges to sustainable development; (d) Making standards work: 50 years of standard-setting in crime prevention and criminal justice; requests the Secretary-General to prepare a discussion guide for the regional preparatory meetings for the 11th Congress for the consideration of the Commission; accepts with gratitude the offer of the Government of Thailand to host the 11th Congress; decides that the duration of the 11th Congress shall not exceed 8 days, including pre-Congress consultations; invites Member States to be represented at the 11th Congress at the highest possible level; requests the Commission, at its 12th session, to finalize the programme for the 11th Congress.
