Transmits report, conveyed by the Under-Secretary General for Internal Oversight Services, pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 48/218 B of 29 July 1994 and 54/244 of 23 Dec. 1999, on the investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation of refugees by aid workers in West Africa. Sections of the text are: methodology used, definitions, verification of the consultants' report, case studies, problems in the camps, came life, meeting basic needs, and 17 recommendations. Included annexes are: i) report of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Task Force on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Humanitarian Crises and Plan of Action on sexual exploitation; ii) highlights of some action taken by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to prevent exploitation of refugees.
