Summary
A seasoned diplomat, A. H. Dantas de Brito (Brazil, 1914 – 2005) spent his diplomatic career in various international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Pan-American Union. He joined the United Nations in 1947 and eventually became the Director of Political and Security Council Affairs. From 1975 to 1985, Mr. de Brito served in the Brazilian Mission to the United Nations. This interview was conducted on 8 March 1991, and focuses on Mr. de Brito's experiences during the height of the Korean War, as he was serving first in the United Nations Commission on Korea (UNCOK) and later in the United Nations Commission for the Unification and Rehabilitation of Korea (UNCURK).
