Authorizes the establishment for 6 months of an International Security Assistance Force to assist the Afghan Interim Authority; calls upon Member States to contribute personnel, equipment and other resources; authorizes participating Member States in the International Force to take all necessary measures to fulfill its mandate; calls upon the International Force to work in close consultation with the Interim Authority as well as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General; calls on all Afghans to cooperate with the International Force and all relevant organizations and welcomes their commitment to ensure the security of UN personnel; requests the Secretary-General to establish a trust fund and encourages Member States to contribute to such fund; requests the leadership of the International Force to provide periodic reports on progress towards the implementation of its mandate.
