Summary
The report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 55/178 and outlines the progress relating to peace, freedom, democracy and economic development achieved by the countries of the region. It is observed that while armed conflict and consistent violation of human rights have ended, the region still has to overcome the poverty and structural inequalities which gave rise to conflict. DAA
