Summary
Decides that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Disaster Reduction should be modified in order to provide for increased participation of regional organizations as well as to ensure the continued membership of the key UN agencies; calls upon Governments to establish national platforms or focal points for disaster reduction, and urges the UN system to provide appropriate support for these mechanisms; reiterates the need to continue international cooperation to reduce the impact of the El Niño phenomenon.
