Summary
Covers developments since the first report of 20 Mar. 2001 (S/2001/241). Provides an account of the adverse conditions that result from the sanctions regime on civil aviation, international trade, investments, banking and the humanitarian operating environment in Afghanistan. Concludes that the clearest direct effects of the UN sanctions are still on civil aviation and economic investment and that the primary cause of human suffering in Afghanistan is the ongoing conflict and the widespread deprivation of human rights. Includes recommendations. DAA
