International Year of Freshwater, 2003 : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly

Proclaims the year 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater; invites the Subcommittee on Water Resources of the Administrative Committee on Coordination to serve as the coordinating entity for the Year and to develop relevant preliminary proposals for consideration by the General Assembly at its 56th session on possible activities, including possible sources of funding, that could take place at all levels, as appropriate; calls upon Member States, national and international organizations, major groups and the private sector to make voluntary contributions in accordance with the guidelines for international years and anniversaries; requests the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at its 57th session a progress report on the preparations for the International Year of Freshwater.
