Summary
Welcomes the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the UN Institute for Disarmament Research; reiterates its conviction that the Institute should continue to conduct independent research on problems relating to disarmament and security and to undertake specialized research requiring a high degree of expertise; requests all Member States to consider making financial contributions to the Institute in order to ensure its viability and the quality of its work over the long term; recommends that the Secretary-General seek ways to increase the funding of the Institute, within existing resources.
