Commends the continued efforts of the League of Arab States to promote multilateral cooperation among Arab States, and requests the UN system to continue to lend its support; requests the Secretariat of the UN and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to intensify further their cooperation for the realization of the purposes and principles embodied in the Charter of the UN, the strengthening of international peace and security, economic and social development, disarmament, decolonization, self-determination and the eradication of all forms of racism and racial discrimination; requests the Secretary-General of the UN, in cooperation with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, to encourage periodic consultation in order to review and strengthen coordination mechanisms with a view to accelerating implementation of, and follow-up action on, the multilateral projects, proposals and recommendations adopted at the meetings between the 2 organizations; recommends that the UN and all organizations of the UN system make the greatest possible use of Arab institutions and technical expertise in projects undertaken in the Arab region; reaffirms that a general meeting between representatives of the UN system and the League of Arab States should be held once every 2 years and that joint inter-agency sectoral meetings should also be convened on a biennial basis to address priority areas of major importance to the development of the Arab States, on the basis of agreement between the UN system and the League of Arab States and its specialized organizations.
