Summary
Urges States to continue the development of an international plan of action on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing for the FAO of the UN, as a matter of priority; appeals to States and regional fisheries organizations, including regional fisheries management bodies and regional fisheries arrangements, to promote the application of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries within their areas of competence; affirms the need to strengthen, where necessary, the international legal framework for intergovernmental cooperation in the management of fish stocks and in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, in a manner consistent with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and taking into account the Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 Dec. 1982 relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks, and other relevant principles of international law.
